Gardens are a powerful tool educating people of all backgrounds and ages on such things as design, culture, food production and the enviroment. Our objective is to design and build gardens which facilitate experiencial learning through a hands-on approach.

 Works in Public Horticulture

Department of Fish and Game Massachusetts Riverways Program – Ecological Landscaping Workshops and Stormwater Best Management Practice Design for Residential Landscapes.

  • Teaching and consulting with community members in East Longmeadow, Ma., who live along the Pecousic Brook.
  • Focus was on Ecological landscape techniques to replace lawn, stop erosion, re-charge stormwater and create diversity.
  • This was accomplished using ideas and techniques which homeowners could easily accomplish through the use of native plants and materials which are commonly found at nurseries.
  • A public garden at Heritage Park and a restoration garden at St. Michaels Church were installed through the efforts of volunteers and Treefrog Landscapes.

Blueberry Hill Elementary School PTO Education Garden. Longmeadow , Ma. Design and installation of garden and pathways, which focuses on native plant communities and edible plants native and non-native.

New England Wildflower Society Nasami Farm. Whately, MA. Taught classes on native plants in landscape design and groundcovers as alternatives to lawn and other functional uses.

ChickeringElementary School Dover, MA

Designed and managed construction of a classroom garden with the PTO. Garden included native plants, a laboratory garden, and activities shed.

Whitebrook Middle School. Easthampton, MA

– Volunteer for school garden program

- Donated orchard trees and planted with students.

Wild Ones Native Plant Organization – Co-founder of

SW Michigan chapter. 1999

YouthBuild Boston - Developed green industry skills program for urban youth 16-19 years of age. Developed skills through community outreach and  hands-on landscape construction projects

  • Worked with youth to plant and install a greenroof in Boston's South End
  • Built landscape to satisfy LEED standards for new  two-family home in Mattapan,MA.
